Carolina Women Compete In Championships
UPDATE : (9:14AM) Sarah’s agreed to talk to UPSTATE FROLFER before she heads to the Championships. Keep an eye here later for her thoughts on the upcoming weekend and the sport itself.
The Upstate, and South Carolina, will be well-represented at the U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Championships in Iowa.
Of course, the most recognizable name in the Upstate contingent is Easley’s Sarah Stanhope. Sarah’s won $3,500 on tour this year and enters the Open division as the third highest-rated player.
Sarah’s accomplishments are well known around here. She’s won Open money in fields crowded with men this year, like finishing 4th out of 20 in Sayde’s Memorial. Sarah was the only woman in that division.
She’s joined in Quad City, IA this weekend by Christine Savvakis of Greenville and Sarah Nicholson of Columbia.
Those are the only registered representatives of out region in this big event, without a single entrant from Georgia, North Carolina or Tennessee.
So wish them luck and follow the progress on this site.
