Humiliation
Total collapse.
I was -3 headed into the last round of the Upstate Classic.
I blew up.
In fact, I was -5 headed into the last hole of my third round when I took a circle 6 on the 10th hole. Then, I shot the single worst round of disc golf I’ve thrown in YEARS.
+9.
I was +12 on the last 19 holes I played in that tournament.
Congratulations to everyone else. It was still a good time but I’m devastated by my extreme failure.
A side note :
Last year I embarassingly finished +6,+6,+5 and +7 in my four rounds.
After throwing what is almost certainly the single worst round thrown by anyone all tournament long, I finished the event this year…+6.
God help us all.
A full recounting of the disaster is still to come but, honestly, I’m too upset to get into it now.
Last year, in the Upstate Classic, I was heading into hole 10 (I started on 13) -3. I had a birdie putt on 10 from 15′. I hit center chains and it didn’t stick, rolled down the hill, into the creek. I ended up taking a circle 6. I then ended up going OB on 12 & 13 and finished the round at +6. I went from 3 down to 6 up in 4 holes.
Been there, done that.
I played worse than everyone else and I am going to Chucktown in a couple of weeks to get the bad taste out of my mouth! Hopefully, I will shoot better.
I saw you were on the 2nd card to start the final round, was hoping to come here and see the good news, but still saw some- you finished better than last year.
That makes one of us…
I finished with rounds of +3, +1, + 3 and -1 so I guess we tied. I started the tourny at 4 over after 3 holes so everything was a type of improvement from that disastrous beginning. I went back yesterday with Jami and threw a no-B.S.ing minus 5. The killer was short putts, most inside 15 and some inside 10 (one rolled away from a 6-foot miss down the hill on 13). Hell, on 5 I had a 8-footer from below pin that I air-balled completely OVER the basket to land on the ground 2 feet on the other side.
Until next year amigo, but I’m not practicing any because I wasted 6 weeks of Mondays at that damn course.
